Lights, Camera...Make a Difference!

DV8 FILMMAKING CAMP is a media literacy and advocacy filmmaking program initiative of Information Media for Progress thru Alternative Communication Technologies, (IMPACT),Inc. in cooperation with The National Youth Commission and The Garage Jesuit Communications Creative Technologies Center,to empower the youth in becoming managers of information and responsible producers of their ideas while encouraging their pro-active participation in media advocacy for social change and national development.

While the title of the program DV8 2015 means Development Vision for the year 2015, it can also be read as “deviate” which connotes the following definitions 1. to differ from others in belief or thought 2. to depart from one’s usual or previous behaviour. Hence, the program offers a unique program design from other usual filmmaking activities because it is relatively geared to encourage substantive and socially-oriented stories/subject matter; and to explore new ways in creatively presenting the advocacies/issues related to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals in a popular and commercially-viable media format whereas applying the principles of social marketing to promote change of behavior.

Mentorship, Production, Festival, Awards

THE COMPONENTS of the DV8 Filmmaking Camp involves the conduct of forum on the role of media and the youth in promoting the Millennium Development Goals with the focus on making the participants understand the issues related to development in the Philippines; facilitative enhancement of skills on advocacy filmmaking where assignments and exercises become an integral part of the pre-production; and actual production of at least 10 to 20 short features and public service ads/TVCs that will be used as an educational/awareness campaign tool to promote the Millennium Development Goals in schools and communities nationwide through the DV8 FILM FESTIVAL '08, Campus Tours/Road shows and other means of distribution.
